Ignacio Chamber Meeting March 1, 2023

Present: Cassandra Sanchez, Amy Barry, Mark Garcia, Annette Gallegos, Bruce LeClaire, Chris deKay, Alyson Hildner, Randall Haynes, Amos Lee, Kasey Correia, Mike Pacheco, Marcia Vining, Andrea Taylor, Jessica Dunbar, Tuggy Dunton, Clark and Sharon Craig Called to Order: 8:06am Time of Reflection: Pastor Randall Haynes Thank you to Sky Ute Casino for hosting the meeting and sponsoring breakfast. January/February Minutes: Andrea Taylor motioned. Marcia Vining second. All approved. Financials: $6742.52 in checking and $4656.47 in savings. Election: 3 nominees for 3 positions. Previously Carol Thompson, Amos Lee and Annette Gallegos were nominated for these positions. Andrea nominated they be elected by Sharon seconded. All approved. Presentation: Thank you to Jeff Engman and Delbert Cuthair for the SUIT Fiber Instillation Update Old Business: Green Chili Fest is set for Saturday, September 2, 2023. Submitted application for Special Event Permit. Currently looking for local entertainment and activities. Next meeting will be soon. Round Table Updates: Town of Ignacio – Town board voted for a fixed gas rate to make sure bills are paid but trying not to burden residents. They are working to move forward with the ELHI purchase the board will have an ordinance for this plan to purchase at the March Town Board meeting. Community engagement will be very important to decide the future and possibilities for this central Town property. Ignacio Community Library – Marketing books that were recommended by Kirsten are available. Undeterred Film Screening Friday, March 3rd at 6pm. FLC Professor Benjamin Wadell will be facilitating and the filmmaker will be joining online after the screening for a discussion. Author visit with Tekla Dennison-Miller on Friday, March 24th at 10am for Women’s History Month. Hoping that the Bookmobile will be ready to roll by June. Intern program has been very successful. Sky Ute Casino – Check out the March specials, Celina Tribute Concert on May 13th tickets go on sale March 1st. VIP $35/General $25 Dancing Spirit – March 29th they will be closing on the construction loan! Planning 14 months for completion. Watch for fundraising opportunities and take a look at the Enterprise Zone information on the website. Open studio on Saturdays has been very successful. Farmers Fresh – They have faced turnover, but have some quality new employees. They still have a position open. Supply prices have somewhat stabled. Ignacio School District – Basketball Teams moving on to Regionals, the Lady Cats play in Greely and the Bobcats play in Colorado Springs. Working on a plan for the roll out of universal Pre-K. Strategic Plan Update will be held March 13th . Bruce LeClaire – Rural Philanthropy Days will be in the area they will visit Ignacio on June 7th at 9am. Working with Team Up working with United Way to provide scholarships for summer activities to help with teen mental health. Boys and Girls Club – Very successful Heart Fundraiser this year. Sign up is at capacity and they do have a waitlist. Currently have 2 board seats open. Also, Ignacio Youth Baseball is opening up registration SUIT Information, Amy Barry - SUIT Community Pow-Wow on March 11th. Calendars are on sale to the public. They are working to provide a collaborative community calendar. Spring Clean up for Tribal Community April 17-21. Tribal Egg Hunt April 1st and Tribal Color Run April 21st this event is focusing on the Elders and the youth.
